Wednesday 9th April - early night

Good evening all...

It's been a busy day...

A bath to start with, which is always an energy-sapper for me.

A series of phone calls sorting out changes to medicines, and dealing with my father's estate,

A successful start made on cleaning the oven door glass panel, (washing up liquid, and cillit bang power degreaser had no effect at all, vinegar and extremely ancient baking powder looked promising, but in the end it was a product called 'pink stuff' which came with what looked like an oversized battery powered toothbrush that got the job done. My next plan of attack would have been another product called 'bar keeper's friend')

I'm supposed to have joined my book club on zoom tonight, but instead I'm having an early night.

I'll leave you with a Mendelssohn Gondola song, one of the Songs without Words, as a bedtime story/lullaby.

I reckon I'll be asleep before Daniel Baremboim has reached the end...

  1. Oven door glass panel - can you tell me more about the "pink stuff"? Or the "bar keeper's friend"? I could do with something that would work on mine.

  2. Whoops, just found both products on-line! As a Canadian I'm not currently buying US products (Bar Keepers Friend) and I see The Pink Stuff is a UK brand, so Pink Stuff it is.

    1. When I woke up this morning my first thought (!) was to go and gloat over my clean(er) oven door!
This 'not buying US products' is gaining momentum in Canada, I see from our news. I'm not surprised, in the circumstances.

I dread to think what's in Pink Stuff but it will literally strip paint and I have a clean, if patchy toilet seat to prove it.

I wonder if it will deal with grouting left by bathroom installers on edge of basin 9 years ago... I think I should ear gloves next time I use pink stuff...

  4. I excel at buying cleaning products. Now I have to make the transition to actually using them . . .
