TwobyTwo or is it 2by2
The first of August is the start date of the new collaboration!
For the full story zip over to Ang's blog as she's not only written up what we are doing, but has photographs and demo pieces to show you. She's also blogged all three of our collaborations to date... so you can catch up on the whole story from the beginning.
It's going to be a mix of embroidery and English Paper Piecing. The idea is we create two identical(ish) embellished squares which will become 7cm (I think) squares tacked over paper squares. We keep one and post the other each month.
The idea came about because Ang created practice patches for the last collaboration. Now this is going to be a real challenge for me because I don't think I've ever made two of anything that came out looking remotely similar ever in my life... not sewing, knitting, baking, dress-making, not even playing music or teaching a music lesson. Paper piecing is the new skill for Ang, doing practice pieces is the new skill for me!
Drawing
I'm determined to keep up doing a sketch every day through August, and maybe beyond. So this is another 'beginning' for me. I did manage a whole year of sketches in a Christmas Present sketchbook a year or so ago. I'll just have to see how I go.
I started watercolour sketching in earnest back in 2020 by drawing my coffee cup each day... that might be how I begin...
Now all I need to do is rewrite the lyrics...
'We stitch and sew and stitch and sew and stitch the whole day long...'
I bet they didnt bury it!

DeleteMisread that, thought your fruitcake had marmalade and a bit of pork!
ReplyDeleteMmm... different....
DeleteYou have both stitched some wonderful pieces. I'm looking forward to seeing what this collaboration brings.
ReplyDeleteI love that song. I am always amazed when watching those videos how lovely they are. I always think about how long they must have taken back in the day to create!
The films and songs have become embedded into our childhood. I'm always astonished when I meet people, nearly always much younger that me, it's true, who have never watched them.
DeleteLucky, lucky builders!
ReplyDeleteAngie
They have been so careful and accommodating, they deserved cake!
DeleteI am sure the builders were delighted with your gift of cake. I am so looking forward to your new collaboration with Ang. Regards Sue H

DeleteChallenging new . . . challenge.
ReplyDeleteFruit cake is always welcome - was the port in the marmalade or did you add it to the tea? ๐๐คฃ
I used a 2 egg all in one victoria sponge recipe, sort of, as in mean with the sugar and generous with the flour. Added a dollop of marmalade, a glug of port and several handfuls of dried fruit.
DeleteI bet the builders were happy with the cake. Your collaboration sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteThe collaborations are always good fun for Ang and me ๐ชก ๐งต ✂️
