Sunday 12th October - is someone trying

to tell me something?

First off in the mornings, once I'm settled with breakfast  (toast today) and coffee, I check my emails, update my virtual journey (through the Lake District at the moment) read the blogs on my 'feedly' app, write up the previous day in my diary, and finally get round the the morning prayer on the Lectio app.

(I guess many people including me might think morning prayer should come higher on the list. I'm not going to follow that hare today.)

Today's  blogs reads included Trundling through life - she posted a modern paraphrase of the Beatitudes.

Tracing Rainbows on being thankful (even if we didn't appreciate the gift at the time)

Lectio; Holy Spirit, awaken me to the fullness of life you offer to me and to the whole world.

Church zoom service; the story of the ten lepers who were healed, and only one came back to Jesus to give thanks.

It looks as though appreciating your blessings, and expressing gratitude for them was to be a common theme running through my day.

I hope you can find blessings in the week to come, even if there are some gritty bits to get through. Noticing the blessings and expressing gratitude is a sure way to lift your life out of the doldrums.

Have a good week

  1. It's so easy to work along in the rut of grumbling. I do it too much.

    1. I tend to express my opinion very noisily when I'm made cross by something or someone, and then frequently have to climb down. Better to have held my peace while I thought it through first!

  2. It has definitely been a Count Your Blessings sort of day here

    1. It's definitely easier counting blessings on some days, especially on sunny afternoons like today.

  3. With it being our Thanksgiving weekend our focus must also be on being thankful and expressing our gratitude for our many blessings.

    1. I think it is wonderful to have a national day called Thanksgiving. We don’t have such a specific holiday here in the UK, and we are the poorer for it in my opinion.

  4. Lots of blessings counted here. A friend came, the lunch I cooked was wonderful and also resulted in a very deep sleep! All on a beautiful day which started with church in a glorious village and ended with a video chat with a friend.

  5. I am like you express my feelings/opinion rather vehemently first think later then have to back down or apologize. Wish I could be more like my Husband who is so thoughtful and wise. He keeps me calm most times. I am thankful and do count my blessings every day, I just wish I could think a bit more first at times. She H

    1. My cousin teasingly said to me 'the brain had the thought and the mouth said it'. Too true. I could do with installing some kind of delaying circuit between the two!
