Not this...
The grounds of Launde Abbey, near Oakham. We stayed at a farm close by back in the Summer...
But this;
The view from our front window this afternoon! Our next door neighbours are in hopefully the final stages of an extension to the back of their house. It's been fascinating watching the progress, from the arrival of the digger back in July, until now; and all yhe trades seem to be in; plastering, electricians, carpenters...
The road outside has been a carpark all summer and autumn. We don't mind; we've been parking in the road to save our car from getting scratched as diggers and skips and deliveries gave been happening. Free entertainment! And all the different workmen have been careful, thoughtful, polite and relatively quiet.
So, we are in 'Parkland', and hoping and praying that our neighbours will have their new kitchen installed and be able to move in to the extension in time for Christmas. It's looking good...
Music
Scriabin prelude op 11 no 4 in E minor. Another favourite of mine.

We will have more new neighbours shortly. A young couple have bought the bungalow where my friend lived from 1972 -2025. Over 50 years. It needs lots of work doing, and they've been decorating and having tradesmen in , but going back to stay with family nearby each night. That will be 8 new neighbours in a year.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a change for a small close. I hope they'll form a neighbourly community soon.
DeleteYou're very tolerant of the noise and dust that usually come with building. You really like your Scriabin!
ReplyDeleteSomehow they managed to keep the disturbance to the absolute minimum. It was pretty noisy when they were digging out the foundations though!
DeleteI love the drawing! Hope all is back to normal soon
ReplyDeleteI hope so for their sake. It hasn't much bothered us bit their kitchen had to be taken out in the beginning of September and a new one one go in until Monday. Chaos for them.
DeleteThat's a long time without a kitchen for your neighbours. Our nearest neighbour at the smallholding was always having work done but thankfully that was nearly 100 yards away! I dread needing "the builders in" for anything nowadays.
ReplyDeleteI really feel for our neighbours (and their lively 5 year old!). And for their poor cat who is hating it all! The cat comes round to us every day to tell us all about it!
DeleteIt's such a relief when a project nears completion. You are good neighbours and a source of comfort to their cat.
ReplyDeleteThey are very good neighbours to us as well.
DeleteThe house next door but one to us, have been renovating it since they bought it when we bought this bungalow 4 1/2 years ago. They still haven't moved in!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds a bit ... unusual?
DeleteThat's really good that you are so tolerant and nice about all the nice and disruption- must be a relief to your neighbours!
ReplyDeleteIt's made it a lot easier for everyone, all round, that we've all been able to 'play nice'!'
