Here's my November 2By2 stitching;
I kept the left hand poppy and sent the other one to Ang at Tracing Rainbows.
This is my write-up;
We always include a bit explaining about the stitching, as we keep notes on everything as we go along.
I'll post about Ang's November stitching tomorrow.
Poem
These are the first two stanzas of today's poem in 'Haphazard by Starlight';
And if tonight my soul may find her peace
in sleep, and sink in good oblivion,
and in the morning wake like a new-opened flower
then I have been dipped again in God, and new-created.
And if, as weeks go round, in the dark of the moon
my spirit darkens and goes out, and soft strange gloom
pervades my movements and my thoughts and words
then I shall know that I am walking still
with God, we are close together now the moon’s in shadow
The 'And if' situations proposed by the poet become steadily bleaker, tougher, but end with a sense of the presence of God.
I just love the image "I have been dipped again in God, and new-created."
The moon isn't in shadow at the moment
It's a supermoon, and here it is at 4pm tonight as dusk was falling.
I like your poppies and the explanation that goes with them. A field of poppies is a joyous sight. Poppies were a favourite flower of my mother's and my Norfolk brother-in-law would send her pictures of poppies. Norfolk isn't just renowned for lavender!
ReplyDeleteAs you say, a field of poppies is joyous. I love it they come up in my garden.
DeleteBeautiful photo and lovely poppies. Warm greetings from Montreal, Canada ๐ ❤️ ๐จ๐ฆ
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. Greetings to you as well from West Sussex, England
DeleteThe "strange gloom that pervades my movements".....I have those days when life is more difficult but thankfully they don't last.
ReplyDeleteNo moon for us tonight. It's raining cats and dogs.
It's important to try not to let the 'strange gloom' settle, isn't it. No moon for us last night, rainy wet rain all night.
