Or rather HOT!
Outside, in the full glare of the midday sun (1:15 to be more accurate) the two installer carry on, stoic to the end. I hope it won't be the end of them...
Close of play yesterday
The gap is for the French windows opening out onto the new patio, with a full height opening window either side. Then come the party wall; solid to about chest high and then full height opaque privacy glass above. This is to mitigate loss of light to the neighbour's house and garden. I don't know how effective this will be, but changing the solid wall for glass removed a lot of the distress and unhappiness that they were feeling about our extension so it's worth it for that. They've been good to us over the years and we didn't want to upset our little community. It's hideous when neighbours fall out...
Today the missing wall is now up and all the panels properly secured. We have reached the roof!

Brain fog in the heat is a real thing. I was reading an article this mo(while it was cooler) which explained how the brain is involved in regulating body temperature, controlling sweating, distribution of liquid around the cardiovascular system etc. So there is less brain power available for thinking.
Which is just a preamble to me saying 'toodle-oo' as I've run out of brain for now!
Look after yourselves...

That’s probably where Terry Pratchett got the idea of having trolls be geniuses when in their natural environment which was much cooler than the temperature above ground.
ReplyDeleteTotally!...
DeleteSame rule applies to marmots I think
DeleteI feel for anyone working outside in this heat, we are hiding inside, our living room is nice and cool.
ReplyDeleteI handed out chocolate ice cream on sticks - very much appreciated. 😋
DeleteBe thankful you're not a construction worker! It's looking good , though. 37 here today - cooler tomorrow, apparently. 🥵
ReplyDeleteCooler tomorrow? I hope so!
DeleteWe're finally getting a bit of a heat reprieve but still desperately need rain. Your remidel/ expansion is coming along. Physical labor in thus heat those is so hard.
ReplyDeleteThe two of them don't moan or complain or get crabby - just quietly and carefully get on with it. A lesson to us all.
DeleteWell, the heat-induced brain fog explains a lot - sitting in front of my PC at work - not being able to work out for the life of me what I am supposed to be writing!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like real work... I was baffled by the complexity of making a pot of tea for the workmen this afternoon ☕️
DeleteFriends in Herefodshire recorded 35 degrees today!
ReplyDeleteUgh.... hot!
DeleteDouble ugh! I was going to be daring and venture into town today, but fear I might melt en route.
ReplyDeleteBest done before 8am... oh, but nothing is open....
DeleteIt's beginning to look like a room even if it is still the bare bones, it won't be forever. Especially when the glass goes in.
ReplyDeleteWhen I got in the car yesterday it was so hot I could only hold the steering-wheel with my right thumb and forefinger (very quiet road) before getting stuck at the level-crossing where it was 'hotter than Satan's air-fryer' .
Car would have been like oven 😩
DeleteAnd getting stuck at crossing? No. Words.
It's coming along!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the heat. I do struggle as the summer goes on, rather like I do in the winter with the cold lol. My son works outside in summer and winter so he has a swing of extremes. After doing it for a few years, he just has things he does to keep warm/cool.
I guess this comes with experience - in the UK we're all still learning about hot weather
DeleteMy DH worked in construction almost his entire life and 2 of our sons are still in that trade. He wonders how he managed working in the heat of summer and the endless rain of winter. Sounds like your workers also just accept whatever weather the day brings and carry on.
ReplyDeleteThere's no other way, is there! .
DeleteBrain fog in the heat explains my life as a sloth in the summer. ~ skye
ReplyDeleteIt's a real thing!
DeleteI've definitely struggled to do anything in the heat. I had to set myself 10min timers to help motivate me to tidy the bedroom!
ReplyDeleteSetting the timers sounds like a very good idea to me 💡
