I often feel energised and full of enthusiasm at the beginning of the week. Often, but not always...
Today I spent an awful lot of time sitting and reading and snacking... what is it they say... " never do today what you can put off until tomorrow"? I'm past master at that.
Still, there's a drawing
I've drawn it from memory. A bit of colour would make it easier to spot the baby marrow and some flowers. The Korean Chest
It must be time for another row of drawers;
More decorations for candles
A light bulb, with a note in my father's writing 'cooker hood, still works'. Now which cooker hood would that be? The current flat, the previous flat, or one of the two previous houses?
An empty spectacles case on soft fabric
A selection of poppies from past Remembrance Days
Curtain hooks
A card or ticket from a Scandinavian museum
I'm slowly assembling things which I will put into the drawers once I clear out the real junk. I'd like it to become a kind of cabinet of curiosities rather than a collection of moderately useless bits and pieces!
Music
Aarpo Hakkinen playing The Earl of Salisbury's Pavan ' by William Byrd, on a virginal dating back to 1604
The drawers are fascinating!
ReplyDeleteI cannot resist boxes or cabinets of 'things'
DeleteSounds like a nice start to the week.
ReplyDeleteIt must be fun to look through the curio drawers to see what was thought of as something important enough to keep.
I think it's more 'what shall I do with this' than 'oh here's something worth keeping ' !
Deleteis the baby marrow on the left hand side, or is that the flower in bud?
ReplyDeleteThat's the baby marrow... I needed some yellow (or to make a tidier drawing!) to show the flowers clearly.
DeleteI was wondering about the Korean chest and what else you would discover. No absolute treasures yet, but memories are precious.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if people ever get over their awe at playing old instruments.
That instrument is over 400 years old! From the Tudors...!
DeleteYour post brought to my mind a book by Alice Hoffman called The Museum of Extraordinary Things. I'm going to the thrift store later and will see if I can find a copy. I'd like to reread it.
ReplyDeleteSounds fascinating. I shall look it up. Thank you
DeleteThe chest is very cool! I like it very much and how you are organising it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't really started reorganising it yet...that time will come !
