Thursday 9th July - Seriously?

Oh please, please, could everyone in Clacton-on-Sea vote for Count Binface?

He looks to be the only candidate standing against Nigel Farage in the by-election after NF resigned as an MP (oddly enough the same initials as National Front, I'veonlyjust noticed). NF resigned as MP, apparently, if I've got this right, in protest at being investigated re potentially breaching the code of conduct for MPs.

Reading the ITVX article it seems he's a 'comedian, satirist and Intergalactic Warrior'. Plus he's written for 'Have I Got News For You'. Sound at least as well qualified as many, then?

Am I serious? Um... well, actually,.... yes?

Meanwhile, I dug these plums out of the fridge;

Perfectly ripe, according to the label... definitely NOT! I remember plums being soft and sweet and luscious, nor crunchy and sour. I'm stewing them with sugar and cinnamon.

I've been looking forward to these plums because of this poem

  1. I feel the same way, it would be great if Clacton came together and voted in Binface, I was reading about him, he sounds interesting, and can't be any worse than Farage.

  2. Lev Parikiens parody, for a day like this...
    This is just to say
that I have taken those plums
    Out of the icebox
    And climbed in

  3. I would vote for Binface if I lived in Clacton. NF is beyond words. I got some plums like yours from Sainsbury's and they were delicious, very, very juicy. We didn't put them in the fridge, just left them in the fruit bowl. I love stewed plums with cinnamon too. Regards Sue H

  4. I would love Count Binface to win, but seeing interviews with some of the Clacton electorate, I think it's unlikely.
The whole thing's a farce, anyway, and it will only delay the inevitable inquiry into Farage's behaviour.

    1. Honestly who would vote for NF? You don't have to dig very deep to uncover his dodgy dealings and slippery finances. Never mind his appalling attendance and participation in House of Commons.

    2. There is a section of the population that feels let down by the establishment and will vote in desperation for someone claiming they will make their lives better.. They don’t care about the truth. Otherwise we would never have had Brexit.

    3. The Brexit vote was ridiculous; a good number of people said on TV that they were just protesting against the current government and never meant it to happen.

  5. This year's plums have delicious flesh but tough and sour skins. I don't know how they managed it.

  6. Sorry about your disappointing plums. The peaches that GD Kate brought us were not juicy and sweet either. I don't want to let her know bc she had the best of motives but I'm having to add a lot of sugar.

    1. I wonder if they pick the fruit too early so that it travels better. But that's not a solution!

  7. Jaywick in Clacton is one of the poorest areas in the country. A news report with some residents showed them all NF supporters and really didn't care about his money issues. I despair.

    1. He has a cult following like Trump's lot. (Thinking of Mussolini, and worse.)
