From Rachel Mann's Advent book, 'In the Bleak Midwinter', on the poems of Christina Rossetti
Today's poem is a total change from yesterday;
Advent (1851)
Is it really so simple, so easy?
Everyone is called, all we have to do is respond. How could we resist?
The last verse turns everything round. The Creator God, Our Father, who art in Heaven, is not too grand or so distant that, if we call Him, he will reply 'I'm on my way', leave Heaven, and rush towards us.
That's a 'Wow' and a half to think upon.
I found a setting of the poem, with the words, here, by Kathryn Rose. This is the World Premiere, at Barker Road Methodist Church, Singapore.
AdventBookClub is raising money for the Trussell Trust at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/adventbookclub2019, and is even in a group on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1220319721395793/?ref=share. We are running from Advent Sunday Dec 1st to Candlemas in January, and using Rachel Mann’s “In the Bleak Midwinter“
