Tuesday 11th November - BLUE

Blue is the scavenger item I've chosen for today. It's a watercolour I did at the weekend, when at last I was able to consider painting again.

This is reasonably true to life - a bit duller maybe. But I fiddled around with editing out the borders and voilá

This is brighter than the original, and I love it so much I'm using it as the wallpaper on my tablet. I think the original,  with the browny greys is more interesting though.

I wet the paper, and then dabbed on random brush-loads of (I think) prussian blue, a sort of marine blue (can't remember the name exactly), burnt sienna and a touch of paynes grey. It fascinates me the way the random dibbling of colours just makes these weird and wonderful pictures.

Hurrah! I hit my old target of 2000 on my step counter yesterday. That made me feel good.

And I'm experimenting with drawing - scribbling, really - very small, very quick cats. I do better if I look, think, and just do it without trying too hard to get it right. I just kept scribbling until the cat emerged. I did the eyes and ears first and made the cat appear around them, Cheshire Cat-like, but in reverse.

    1. Dibbling about is what I enjoy; proper study is not!

  4. Your painting is beautiful! I like both versions, the dark one is more dramatic. And the other one gives a lighter mood.
