Yesterday and today (it's now 4pm and the builders have been clearing up for the day) have been incredibly noisy. I knew it would be, but even so... We now have three deeeeep trenches across the garden
The shed was originally to the left of that digger; I watched in total disbelief as they manoeuvered two pump trolleys under it, one on each side, and PUSHED it, still full of everything, to it's new location.
Still, we now have yet another huge heap of earth in the front garden, waiting for the man with the lorry with the great grabby grabber on the back to come. Grabber man makes it look effortless, filling its terrible jaws with earth and rubble and swinging it safely through the narrow space between the tall rose, the streetlight and the telegraph pole to dump it onto the lorry.
Tomorrow they will be pouring concrete into the trenches.
....
Salmon fillets, skinned, cut into pieces and coated with one of the more exotic salad dressings (I recommend honey and mustard, and also a ginger one) and air-fried for 9-10 minutes at 180 was delicious.
Tonight will be rolls with coronation coleslaw and cold sliced chicken again. No thought required.
....

I like sweet chili sauce on my salmon fillets
ReplyDeleteDelicious!
DeleteYour Salmon sounds tasty. I saw some at the grocery store that was an excellent price but they couldn't tell me if it was wild or farmed and since I won't eat the farmed I didn't buy any.
ReplyDeleteOnce the concrete is poured will the trenches be filled again? I assume it's all about a stable base for the extension? Hopefully all goes according to plan.
I think they are going to build brick foundation walls in the trenches, and lay a base of concrete beams over them. The actual walls/windows/doors/roof arrive as prefabricated panels. It's certainly an adventure! I don't know how the builders manage so well I the heat but they are a cheerful hardworking crew.
DeleteGosh it is moving on apace. The salmon sounds delicious. We had salmon on Monday, with a sprinkling of chilli flakes, black pepper, a drizzle of olive oil and a squeeze of lime juice, just what I had it was tasty. Chilli goes well with salmon doesn't it? Regards Sue H
ReplyDeleteAnother delicious recipe!
DeleteWow, that is a dramatic change! The salmon sounds nice!
ReplyDeleteHave you discovered John torodes quick teriyaki salmon noodles? I'll post it as it might save you a takeaway supper!
DeleteEither that trench is extremely deep or that man is quite short! It's good to hear that everything is proceeding at pace. The big machines are amazing - or rather, the men controlling them are.
ReplyDeleteThe trenches are 1.6m.... it looks a long way down!
