This was one of the hymns/songs in the BBC Daily Service n 31st July. The service was called 'Lament for Southport', and this was the last song.
The words are
May you see God's light on the path ahead
when the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear even in your hour of sorrow
the gentle song of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness never
turn your heart to stone.
May you always remember when the shadows fall
you do not walk alone.
I offer it now as a prayer for all the people who are hurting, everywhere, for whatever reason.
Very lovely, thank you.
ReplyDeleteOur home group has taken it for our 'meditation ' this week.
DeleteThat poem is so lovely, thoughtful and straight to the point. Xx
ReplyDeleteI don't know where the words come from, whether they are a traditional Irish blessing or written in the style of one. But yes, so simply direct and gentle.
DeleteIt's a traditional Irish blessing, and the music is by Elaine Hagenberg, a composer from Vancouver
